What is personal lines insurance?

Simply put, personal lines provides insurance protection for your personal endeavors, property or loss of use.

Liability coverage may be extended from your homeowner’s, condo, or renter’s policy with excess limits provided by a personal umbrella.  Liability insurance may also be provided by an auto, boat, RV, or motorcycle policy.

Protecting personal property or valuable articles can be accomplished by insuring the assets as a defined limit or as a percentage of the dwelling under a homeowners plan.

Collectable cars and valuable articles, such as jewelry, artwork, antiques, etc. often appreciate in value so it is important to define the recoverable method as either by agreed valuation or as a stated amount.  Either way, it is important to evaluate this amount periodically to keep up with inflation.
